Are you ready for direction?

A few weeks ago, I was leaving work to go to a meeting a church. I was taking the highway and going down some back roads that I was very familiar with for the past few years. That evening however, was a little different. Streets started to look different to me and I realized that I didn't know where I was going. Mind you it was at that point where I almost drove through a whole round about and hit a sign.  It was at that moment that I pulled over, took a deep breath, and turned on my GPS. During that short moment, I heard God so clear. He said "The same way you are with your driving, is the same way you are with me. You think you know where your going, but you need me to tell you how to get there." That made my heart drop on so many levels and it made me see that for years I have been doing it wrong. In the book of Psalms, it states that "Your word is a lamp to guide my feet and a light for my path" (119:105). But if you do not know the word of God or listen to His word when he speaks, how do your know the path your on?

As his children, we are called to have faith, wisdom, discernment, and so much more. However, you have to get to that place where you truly want that. You can't depend on other people to get you there. I'm in this place in my life where I want to hear from him and him alone. I've allowed my desires (career, husband, children, school, money, and more) to distract me from the one that put those desires there in the first place. Yes the Bible states that he will give you the desires of your heart, but it also tells us to "Take delight in the Lord" (Psalm 37:4). You see, it's not a one way street when it comes to your journey in faith. We have to do our part and God will do his. He doesn't want you sitting around waiting for him to move. He wants you to get up and do your part by faith. But how do you know your part you ask? By simply delighting in him and spending time with him. Just like in a new relationship, you spend time with that person to get to know who they are. Perhaps, it's time to know who God is for yourself so he can guide you down that path he has set for you long before you were formed in your Mother's womb. (Jeremiah 1:5)

So my question for you is, are you ready to turn on your GPS and follow him? Are tired of doing the same things over and over again expecting different results? Are you at that point where you are ready to live instead of existing? Well let me help you by telling you he's been waiting for you all along, and his arms are open wide.

Are you ready?
