Foundational Relationship

I was taught to look a relationship like a house. First, you have to already have that foundation with God. You know who you are and who you are in him. Then when you meet someone, your in the driveway. Your getting to know that person and if your feeling them, then you take it to the porch.

From the porch your really getting to know them and you decide you want to see their character. From there you go to the living room. That is where you see how that person is around their people and they see how you are around yours. From there you go to the kitchen. That is where a level of intimacy happens between the two of you. Your cooking with a deeper level of love and character.

From there you go to the bathroom. That is when you cleanse yourself of things that no longer serve you and vice versa. Then you go to the bedroom. That is when you have that true level of intimacy with each other.

Like so many people in a hurry to find love or be in love, you skip some rooms. What can happen when you do that, your not truly getting to know that person and by the time you see their true selves, your already married. It is so much better for you and the person of interest to truly take it slow to get to know each other. So you can cultivate a long lasting, strong, and healthy relationship.
